What is a pocket diaper?
Arcadia Pocket Diapers are cloth diapers with a sewn-in "pocket" to add absorbent inserts. The outer material of Arcadia Pocket Diapers are made of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) fabric that has a waterproof coating on the inner side to contain your baby's waste. The inner lining of Arcadia Pocket Diapers - the part that sits against your baby's skin - is an AWJ (Athletic Wicking Jersey, 100% polyester) which wicks away moisture and helps keep your baby cool and dry.
What are inserts?
Arcadia offers 3 different styles of inserts currently. All 3 insert styles are made of 6 thirsty layers of bamboo terry. Having all 6 layers made from the same material creates a trim and bacon-resistant insert! A regular insert fits perfectly within our pocket diapers as is. Doubler inserts get folded in half to create 12 layers of bamboo terry—perfect for nap time and heavy wetters. Tripler inserts get folded in thirds to create 18 layers of bamboo terry—perfect for overnight diapers! The material is 85% bamboo viscose and 15% polyester, but there are absolutely no microfiber layers. The polyester is a netting, and the bamboo loops are knitted onto that, this is for strength.

Why should I switch to cloth diapers?
-
Cost
A good start-up stash of cloth diapers costs $200-500 depending on number, brand, new/preloved. Those diapers can potentially last you from birth to potty-training. Once your baby is potty-trained, you can save the diapers to use for additional children or sell/donate them to another parent! Disposable diapers on the other hand can cost anywhere from $1,500-2,500 from birth to potty learning. -
Environment
According to studies, disposable diapers are the third-leading single-use item in landfills and they can take up to 500 years to decompose! In the US alone about 18 billion disposable diapers are thrown away annually. -
Chemicals
Cloth diapers are a low tox solution. You are in control of the ingredients in your detergent, so you don't have to worry about mystery ingredients or sneaky artificial fragrances. -
Less Mess
Most parents find that they have way less blowouts or leaks with cloth diapers because cloth is much more absorbent than the paper disposable diapers are made of. Cloth diapers are much more customizable for your individual baby's needs as well, which can help minimize blowouts and leaks. The elastics on disposable diapers are flimsy, and allow blowouts to escape. -
Fun Prints
Cloth diapers are way more fun! The prints across all cloth diapers are so diverse and amazing. Cloth diapers let you express yourself and your baby in a different way. No matter what your aesthetic is, there will be cloth diapers that meet your expectations. -
Community
The cloth diaper community has been so welcoming and helpful from the very start of our cloth journey. We can't wait to welcome you to it!
